Glossary

RICA means Rural Infrastructure for Climate Adaptation. It defines a market architecture for distributed rural adaptation assets that can be documented, financed, monitored, purchased, pooled, and reported with asset-level transparency.

A RICA asset is a small-scale operating infrastructure project aligned with a RICA solution framework and documented through RICA standards.

A solution framework is the asset archetype that defines the operating pattern, evidence package, financing logic, and monitoring requirements for a category of RICA projects.

A RICA Project Information Model is the structured project information package used for diligence, financing review, monitoring setup, and investor visibility.

An open project account is the Atlas record that links GIS location, project documents, evidence, metrics, stakeholder roles, financing terms, servicing behavior, and material events.

A project loan is the standardized financing instrument used to fund or refinance a RICA asset at project level.

An origination investor provides or reviews capital for project loans before loans may become eligible for later purchase or pooling.

Loan purchase is the process by which eligible project loans move from origination holders into a managed pool or purchase program.

A note investor reviews note-level exposure to pools of eligible project loans while retaining visibility into underlying project records.

A material event is an operational, legal, climate, community, financing, environmental, or evidence-integrity event that could affect risk, repayment, compliance, or investor visibility.

Nature stewardship is the defined ecological role that receives residual economics or other support for biodiversity, soil, water, habitat, or landscape objectives.

Residual economics are cash flows available after operating costs, reserves, financing obligations, and agreed sponsor or local participation economics are addressed.

Atlas is the RICA operating and transparency environment that maintains project evidence, metrics, financing records, reporting submissions, and investor-facing views.
