Solution Frameworks

RICA solution frameworks organize rural climate adaptation assets into sustainability themes with repeatable asset patterns. A framework is not a single technology category. It defines a theme-level thesis, eligible asset patterns, operating evidence, financing logic, risks, and monitoring requirements that allow different local assets to become comparable.

The current public taxonomy uses four sustainability themes: climate-smart nutrition, circular bioeconomy, indigenous food systems, and social forestry. Technology-specific assets such as protected cultivation, drip irrigation, biogas, biochar, primary processing, and bamboo materials remain important, but they are treated as asset patterns inside these themes rather than as the top-level taxonomy.

Frameworks help investors understand what matters for a given theme while preserving the detail needed for asset-level review. A climate-smart nutrition asset and a social forestry asset can both belong in RICA, but they do not carry the same ramp-up profile, operating data, repayment cadence, or risk mitigants. Framework-level underwriting keeps the common RICA structure while respecting the practical differences between asset patterns.
